Values are simply the things that are important to you in life. They are shaped by many things, including your parents, your friends and your life experiences. Your values become part of your character, attitude and thinking - often without you even knowing it. Writing them down can be an eye opener to who you are, where you are going and what you want to achieve in life!
On a recent road-trip I listened to Mike Michalowicz's book - The toilet paper entrepreneur. And this was the result. Every block stems from events, experiences or lessons I learned in my life and I decided to make this a living and breathing part of my company.
I do apologise for the crude language used in the diagram - but then again, that is one of my values :)
